2010 was a year filled with challenges but it also brought with it a great deal of opportunities. One opportunity came by way of two federal stimulus-funding awards. These grants, totaling several million dollars, will enable us to work in six Western Region US states, with nonprofits serving youth and Native American tribes. We expect more than 140,000 young people to be impacted by this work.Â
We bear witness to the disruptive changes IT plays in technologically challenged organizations that need to function effectively in the new information era. The use of technology is changing and those who use the technology must also respond to the change.
Nonprofits have integrated information technologies into a wide range of their organizational activities. We know that information technologies are critical to almost all of an organization’s activities, including accounting, finance, external communications, tracking community members, internal communications, administration, marketing and publicity, fundraising, and donor management. Stakeholders need to gain a clearer understanding of how technology decisions will impact the organization as they work to define the relationship between technology means and technology outcomes. Most importantly, nonprofits need to use such technologies to support and enhance their delivery of mission-critical programs and services.
ZeroDivide is launching a new path that combines traditional philanthropic investments with customized technology assessment and capacity-building services. We believe that this multi-prong approach of service provision to our nonprofit partners will best equip them to be successful in the new economic and technology landscape of 2011 and beyond.
We look forward to sharing the results of our work. Stay tuned . . .
