Matthew Rantanen Appointed to FCC's Native Nations Broadband Task Force

Matthew Rantanen, Director of the Southern California Tribal Digital Village and board member of Native Public Media, has been appointed to the Federal Communications Commission's Native Nations Broadband Task Force.  ZeroDivide, in partnership with Tribal Digital Village, is utilizing federal stimulus funding to increase broadband adoption in Native American tribal communities.  This funding will quadruple broadband adoption rates within the 19 Native American reservations that encompass the Southern California Tribal Chairmen's Association.  Current broadband adoption rates for Ameri

In the fall of 2005, the city of Sacramento itself had unsuccessfully attempted to deploy municipal wireless.  Local non profit and community leaders got wind of what appeared to be a wireless strategy that was not inclusive of local community needs, and, rightly so, intervened.
