Social Media and Advocacy

Social media is increasingly becoming an integral component of online advocacy. In ethnic communities, social media advocacy has gone beyond simple alerts and petition signing. Despite trailing behind in overall Internet use, communities of color are leaders in mobile web use, with more than 85 percent of Latinos and African Americans owning cell phones.

Can I Haz a Social Network? Facebook vs. Ning

I've been immersing myself in "Facebook":http://www.facebook and "Ning":http://www.ning.com, along with Paul Lamb, to better understand if one is a better match for CTF to develop a social network for community investees and partners. We haven't settled on which one yet, but have created "beta" groups/sites in both which we are actively testing.
