Abriendo las Cajas Proyecto Cambio is a project that was designed to promote environmental change and increase community awareness about domestic violence while promoting media responsibility around domestic and community violence within the Latino community.

This documentary is designed to promote critical thinking and community dialogue about the important role media plays in today's society.

Abriendo las Cajas is a collaborative project between La Clinica de La Raza, Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) and ZeroDivide.

Community Leaders Discuss Impact of Budget Cuts

Massive cuts to staff and services in this year’s budget -- estimated at $26.5 million -- could put low-income seniors and others on the brink of homelessness and hunger.

“It’s absolutely devastating,” said Tessie Guillermo, President and CEO of ZeroDivide, a city nonprofit focused on economic inequality and technology. Guillermo noted the cuts are almost entirely to “services, which disproportionately serve poor, immigrants and working uninsured.”

Broadband Access in San Francisco

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski attended a gathering in San Francisco to discuss broadband issues and policies with community leaders.

The FCC has been charged by congress to release a national broadband plan by February 2010.

The Chairman’s visit to San Francisco was part of a “listening tour” about best practices in how to use and expand access to broadband.

Reset, Ready, Start - Lessons from ZeroDivide’s Community Investment Model

ZeroDivide has evolved through several stages in its short life span.  At the heart of its shift toward community enterprise is the underlying belief that underserved communities can generate their own capital—new or enhanced businesses, jobs and enterprises—to improve social and economic conditions.

Conducted by Blueprint Research and Design Inc., the paper provides an up-close look at what it takes to change how you do business  and illustrates some of the larger trends currently shaping philanthropy. These trends include efforts to build sustainable enterprises, the push for greater accountability, the development of quantifiable measures of social impact, calls for increased transparency, and a move toward closer working relationships between donors and nonprofits.

The ZeroDivide Board of Directors originated from a groundbreaking partnership of community leaders representing the State’s ethnic/racial populations. ZeroDivide's all-volunteer Board continues to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise in technology, business enterprise development, government policy, and nonprofit management. In 2010, the Board once again achieved 100% participation in providing ZeroDivide with donations of unrestricted operating capital.
