My wife really loves Facebook, but she's started to feel some guilt about the time she spends there. After all, she volunteers for various breast cancer and women's charities - "shouldn't I be doing something that makes a  difference?" But wait, my love, you can! While still enjoying Facebook, too!

This excellent Mashable post list tons of ways Facebook users can be involved, from Facebook's own Causes to  giving money to hosting a charitable event. Also, the post has links to prior posts in the series talking about how to do good with Twitter and with a blog. It's great to see so many worthwhile causes being entrepreneurial with social media tools.

In my blog post about slactivism, I wrote about how these simple ways to get involved online is a way to start having a more engaged relationship with an organization or cause.  I think your wife's situation is great because it shows that online activism can also be in addition to your "on the ground" work.

In addition to using Facebook, Twitter, or your blog, you can "do something that makes a difference" online through a microvolunteering site.  One that comes to mind is The Extraordinaries.  Most people think of their Iphone application which allows you to microvolunteer from anywhere, but if you are at your computer you can do the same thing from their website, http://www.beextra.org/do.

is here.Thanks, Jessica!
