DiversityRx Workshop on Achieving eHealth Equity: Summary Report

DiversityRx Workshop on Achieving eHealth Equity: Summary Report

In March 2013, ZeroDivide and DiversityRx convened a group of thought leaders as part of pre-conference workshop before the Eighth National Conference on Quality Health Care for Culturally Diverse Populations. The group laid the groundwork towards developing strategies to address health disparities through culturally appropriate and accessible health information technology.

The objective of the workshop were to:
  1. Identify the challenges and opportunities related to meaningful use of eHealth tools among culturally diverse populations and the traditionally underserved.
  2. Build relationships and opportunities for collaboration among key stakeholders in the health care, policy and technology ecosystems to advance eHealth among the underserved.
  3. Motivate participants to develop solutions that will help achieve eHealth equity by ensuring that technology serves to enable instead of obstruct access to quality, affordable and efficient health care.
This gathering, a roundtable format with active discussion, was modeled closely to the White House Summit on Achieving eHealth Equity, held in February 2013. Featuring a panel in eHealth, the workshop included an engaging brainstorming session which generated a number of insightful recommendations.
