Just came back from the Craigslist Foundation Nonprofit Bootcamp.

This was the first year that we had a sponsoring table in the lobby. It was nice to meet attendees and get the vibe of the crowd.

• We need to refine our 30 second intro a bit. One attendees asked after looking at our materials, “Okay, give me the executive summary of the executive summary of what it is you do.” It was clear that people were receiving a lot of information today.

• We used Nonprofit Bootcamp as a our pilot event to introduce nonprofits to our partnership with Joyent. Joyent has generously agreed to donate their on-demand services – web hosting, email/calendaring/collaboration suite, and online file storage – to any qualified nonprofit that is screened by us. Thanks Joyent!

• Someone asked if there was a SourceForge for nonprofit best practices. Imagine a place where you could go and get downloadable examples of Memoranda of Understandings or Technology Plans that are all shareable. Hey wheel, you’ve already been invented-now get distributed. Good idea, let’s build it.

• Micah Laaker from Yahoo! wanted to know if there was a micropayment donation service that people can use to direct regular donations to nonprofits and churches. Once again, I didn’t know of one, but it’s probably one of those things that does exist out there.

• Google and eBay were out in force. Nice to see them getting involved in something like this. Google was demoing Google Apps for Domains, which by the way nonprofits and educational institutions can qualify for this. And eBay was demoing Giving Works.

• We had Top Dog for lunch. Nuff said.
