According to the FCC, 60% of low-income Americans – those whose incomes fall below $20,000 -- do not have access to broadband either at home or at a public computing center. Comparatively, the large majority of people in the U.S. with incomes over $50,000 have adopted broadband; 13% do not have access either at home or at a public computing center.
Since its inception, ZeroDivide has invested in innovative programming that encourage sustainable adoption of technology, including broadband, in vulnerable communities. During this time, we have discovered that complex barriers to broadband adoption vary among different populations and cannot always be resolved with a one-size-fits-all approach. As a result, ZeroDivide engages community-based organizations/ anchor institutions in sharing knowledge and mobilizing communities to increase broadband access, affordability and relevance.
