Concern about the violence of commercial video games is well founded, but that doesn't mean we need to condemn all video games. In fact, what if we could use video games to promote peace? That is exactly what Asi Burak hopes to do with his game Peacemaker - a game set admist the Israel/Palestine conflict, in which you are challenged to negotiate the difficult issues and situations of this conflict. Asi, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Impact Games, was the plenary speaker on day 3 of NTEN's Nonprofit Technology Conference in Atlanta this week. Check out his game at www.peacemakergame.com. Surely in an era in which video games now promote health and fitness (i.e. wii fit), when conventional wisdom was once that they contributed to an unhealthy lifestyle, we can turn around a medium wrought with violence messages to promote peace.
