Increased broadband availablility contributes to employment growth according to new study by the Public Policy Institute of California. However, the report, Does Broadband Boost Local Economic Development? also finds that benefits for local residents are ambiguous. With the Federal Communications Commission creating a National Broadband Plan, this study helps us better undertand the link between Broadband and Economic Development. Broadband may not be a panacea for the economic and employment issues in a local area, but this report shows that there is a clear positive impact.
