Technology gets cooler - the Nintendo Wii allows users (gamers) to keep track of the real world while gaming: you can follow the news and weather on the Wii system. In addition, you can even surf the web through the Wii console. This might sound like a systematic combination of technology features (similar to PS2 users being able to play DVD's on that system) however, I see this as a handy tool that will allow users to stay connected to the real world.
This could allow any underpriveledged family (who can save up for a Wii console) access to the internet, weather, and news, without having to pay monthly access fees for cable and internet.
Video games, news, weather, and internet all in one...who wouldn't want one?

Don' t folks still need to pay for an ISP to access the Internet
Katie: Don't folks still need to pay for an ISP or Internet Gateway to use the Wii for accessing the Internet. Just curious???
RE:Don' t folks still need to pay for an ISP to access the Inter
I was under the impression that my system operates without an ISP or Internet Gateway, but I will certainly look into that!
OHHHH BOY was I wrong!
Well it turns out I was wrong. Apparently my system admin guy (a.k.a. boyfriend) hooked up our Wii to our wireless router without me knowing it. So I appologize...it did seem too good to be true. So who's going to donate wireless routers for all our Wii users out there??? (Just kidding)

This is a great Nintendo forum about Wii internet hook-ups.
