10 Tips for Integrating Twitter Into Your Convening

Recently ZeroDivide was asked by one of our foundation partners to help them integrate Twitter into a convening to meet two main goals:

  1. To introduce convening participants to the power of social media
  2. To model the benefits of using Twitter to promote a shared learning experience and create additional engagement between the participants and the foundation  

Enchanted at the Social Media For Nonprofits Conference kick-off in SF

I was very excited to attend yesterday's kick-off of the Social Media for Nonprofits Conference Series in San Francisco.  The mix of attendees was wonderful and everyone was full of energy and enthusiasm. The speakers did a fantastic job providing practical tips and resources, I definitely came away with things that I can start doing NOW.

Cell Phone and Wireless Internet use is Rising

According to the Pew Internet and American Life Mobile Access 2010 report, more Americans are accessing the internet wirelessly. 

African-American and Latinos continue to be the most active users of mobile web, with a greater percentage owning cell phones and accessing the internet with them.

Foursquare uses its location-based social network for fundraising

Foursquare, a location based social netowrking tool, has partnered with TechiesGiveBack.com for a fundraising event this week in NYC sponsored by Pepsi.  To raise the money, all you have to do is go out and check in.

Is Slacktivism Bad?

Slacktivism, according to wikipedia, is " 'feel-good' measures, in support of an issue or social cause, that have
little or no practical effect other than to make the person doing it feel satisfaction."  The question is, are individuals being driven to only sit at their desk and click their mouse instead of mobilizing and taking "on the street" action?
