Ah, “perfection” is the enemy of the “almost there”. A longer post will come later.

So let me ignore my tendence to write the perfect post and say that photos from the event are on flickr neatly packaged in a set called Digital Storytelling Unconference – Chip Heath Keynotes.

The goal of the April 2nd unconference was for CTFC grantees and other community organizations to learn what to do with stories after they are made.

The highlight was a keynote by Chip Heath, coauthor of a great book Made to Stick about how to make your messages "stick" in the minds of your audience. His presentation was superb and gave me fits as it made me rethink all the branding and messaging we have at CTFC.

We also had great presentations from Ella Baker Center, Current TV, Our Media.org, and the Internet Archive.

We also announced our first set of winners of the Digi’s, our very own digitalstorytelling award for excellence in the DSI program.

And in the afternoon, we formed teams for a one-hour digital story sprint where we awarded minigrants to the top three pitches made by the teams.

All in all—it was a great way to kickoff the next evolution of DSI for us—thinking about distribution.
Oh, and let me make this clear: Chip Heath rocks.
